A blast furnace is hardly architecture in the ordinary sense. Such as vast composition of geometrical forms is, however, more imaginatively exciting than most things built by architects of this century.

Twentieth-century style, deriving to a large extent from industrial work, has not yet exploited all the possibilities of inspiration from this source. Compare the futile ornamentation of the Railroad Station with the arabesque of line and the counterpoint of abstract form of this wholly utilitarian
